Research

Machine Learning, Compressive Sensing, and Computer Vision.
Particularly Structured Learning, Probabilistic Graphical Models, PAC-Bayes Bounds Analysis, and Probability Ineqaulities.

Structured estimation often involves exponential many possible labels or configurations. How to efficiently infer and learn such models remain a challenging and fun task. Assessing the performance in theory is a joy.

Biography

I am a researcher at The Australian Centre for Visual Technologies, and the School of Computer, The University of Adelaide. I received a PhD in computer science in 2011 at The Australian National University (ANU) in Machine Learning. At ANU, I was under supervison of Alex J. Smola (primary advisor, Now in CMU and Google), S. V. N. Vishwanathan (Now in Purdue), Li Cheng (Now in A-Star), Tiberio Caetano (principle advisor, ANU and NICTA), Richard Hartley (Panel, ANU and NICTA). Before that, I completed Bachelor and Master study in computer science and Technology in 2003 and 2006 at The Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU).
