Competition Setting and Rules

The competion is performed under two modes, sensor noise enabled and disabled. Under each mode the competition will be conducted on 12 tracks representing road, snowy, dirt and oval types. For each race on each track, the following three stages will be held sequentially. The evaluation criteria is based on the well known Formula 1 (F1) system.

For each race the points are given as follows.

1st place - 25 points
2nd place - 18 points
3rd place - 15 points
4th place - 12 points
5th place - 10 points
6th place - 8 points
7th place - 6 points
8th place - 4 points
9th place - 2 points
10th place - 1 points

Warm Up

During warm-up, each driver races alone. Drivers can collect useful information about the tracks and can tune their behaviors for the next stages. Accordingly, the performance of drivers in this stage is not taken into account for their scores. The drivers are given 5 laps (per each track) for the warm up.

Qualify

During the qualifying stage each driver races alone on each track for 5 laps.The fastest eight controllers qualify for the actual Grand Prix races.

Race

During the final races, these best eight drivers race together. The races consist of 5 runs/laps on each of the 12 tracks. At the end of each race, the drivers are scored using the F1 system. The starting grid of the first race will be based on the performance obtained in the qualifying stage.

Conference Attandance

Conference registration or attandance is not required to participate for this competition. Nevertheless, we highly encourage the participants to attend to GECCO 2015 considering the great advantages as researchers.
