Several PhD scholarships within Australian Research Council Future Fellowship "Bio-inspired computing for problems with chance constraints" available The Optimisation and Logistics group at the School of Computer Science, The University of Adelaide, Australia has several scholarships available for PhD students working within the ARC Future Fellowship "Bio-inspired computing for problems with chance constraints" starting in 2021/2022. Scholarships are for the duration of 3 years with a possible extension of 6 months. There are no teaching duties, but students are able to take up additional paid casual teaching work during their candidature and get involved in teaching courses within Computer Science. We are seeking excellent candidates with a master or honours in computer science mathematics, or statistics. A successful applicant should carry out theoretical or applied work on evolutionary algorithms, ant colony optimisation, and related bio-inspired computing methods for problems with stochastic constraints. Candidates having experiences in the field of randomised methods, statistics and/or computational complexity of bio-inspired computation are highly encouraged to apply. Currently, around 20 researchers from several nationalities work in the Optimisation and Logistics group. The group collaborates with several of the major research institutions in Europe and the U.S. and has high international visibility.
