South Australian Ambulance Service (Student Projects)
Projects Optimising Resource Placement and Provision
The SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) provides emergency patient care
and transport across South Australia. SAAS is sponsoring a number
of very interesting project proposals involving optimisation of
placement and provision of its resources in Adelaide and South Australia
more generally. Projects include examining station placement now and into
the future. Determining the right mix of emergency response vs patient
transport vehicles. Options for placement and training of qualified
personnel. Identification of potential resource bottlenecks occurring
with future urban growth and increased demand.
Techniques used in these projects may include, but are not limited to,
Data Mining, Heuristic Search, Spatial Analysis, Queueing Theory,
and Discrete Time and Event Simulation.
Projects will be tailored to the scope of the honours year and, where
practical, the interests of the student.
